Its disgusting.

Its absolutely appalling, infact.

Team India brought home a world cup a few days ago, after a good 23 years.
Its a special win for us, I agree. But when I saw the front page of yesterday's newspaper (dated 28th Sept, 07, Pune edition), I was disgusted.
Our 'heroes' have become rich overnight! 1 crore from here and 22 lakhs from there and a flat or two to boot! I didn't know our government was so rich.

My complaint isn't about the cricket team being rewarded for their outstanding game. They ought to be rewarded... they played superbly. What was disgusting was that it was splashed all over the front page of TOI and there was no mention of the Hockey team's plans of going on a hunger strike for not being rewarded at all.

I'm sure you know our Hockey team was disappointed for not getting any recognition of having won the Asia Cup this year. And they're justified. The football team won the Nehru Cup not a long while ago. Nobody hyped that.

I'd like to know how come a 'responsible' newspaper like The Times of India did not so much as mention the plight of the other players of this country. I'd say its injustice happening and all this paper did was participate in it.
A paper that boasts of making a change in this country should have, ideally, highlighted this discrimination between games.

I'm dissapointed.
